So many bags are almost identical to each other, and as they all come off a luggage carousel, it is easy to take the wrong bag by mistake.

MyTag Personal Bag Tags

These almost unbreakable and definitely unmissable baggage tags make life much easier when collecting your bags from the luggage carousel.

One of the problems of buying a new suitcase is that it takes a while for it to develop a unique 'personality' of its own - a combination of scratches and stickers that help you to find it amongst a sea of almost identical bags.

The MyTag personal bag tag makes it easy for you to find your bag, and makes it hard for anyone else to take your bag, whether accidentally or deliberately.

Developed based on years of experience

Chuck Weisbart has worked in the luggage industry for 35 years, ending up in charge of Product Development for Samsonite, and was involved in the development of some of their best selling suitcases of all time.

He set up his own travel goods retail and repair store in Palm Desert, Ca, thirteen years ago, and noticed a curious thing.  Very few of the people he dealt with could easily identify or describe their suitcases.

And so, he came up with a simple but very effective solution - the MyTag baggage tag.  These are distinctive large bright name tags to be securely fixed to your bags.

How the MyTag bag tags can help you

These tags help you several ways :

  • It makes it easier for you to immediately identify your bag on the carousel.

  • It makes it much less likely that someone else will accidentally confuse your bag for their own similar bag.

  • If someone is looking for a bag to steal, they are less likely to steal one that they can't pretend, if caught, they had mistakenly thought was their own.  Generic plain suitcases are stolen much more frequently than distinctively marked ones.

  • If someone is trying to take your bag, you are more likely to notice it being taken away

  • If your bag is lost or misdirected, it is much easier and quicker for the people searching for it to find and identify it

These benefits obviously apply not just when traveling by air, but if part of a coach tour group or in any other situation where your bag is being mixed with many other bags.

MyTag - What you Get

Each tag is almost indestructible.  It has a bright colored strip of nylon webbing, 1" x 7".  At one end, a triangular metal loop connects to a strong plastic tie that you use to affix the tag to the handle of your bag.

The nylon webbing is folded over, and on each side your name or anything else you want is sewn on in large block letters 1" high, in your choice of brightly colored cotton.

Inside the nylon webbing are two plastic sleeve compartments.  You can put your personal details on one side, and on the other side, you can put your travel itinerary (so if your bag goes missing, the finder knows where to contact you and forward the bag to).

The plastic tie strap is of the type that you loop through itself to the object you're fixing it to.  This means that there is nothing to come undone or to fall off, keeping your tag very securely on the bag.

They have been specially designed so that there are no sharp edges or anything likely to get caught and mangled in the automatic baggage handling systems at airports.

Each tag is well made and very robust.  They are simple but completely functional.

Product Choices

The tags come in fifteen different combinations of webbing and stitching colors.

You can specify whatever you want to be sewn onto the tag, up to ten characters in length.

They also have what they call 'Tude Tags - tags that have phrases already sewn on them (eg 'Back Off' or 'Wrong One').

Cost of the MyTag baggage tags

$29.99 gets you three tags all with the same text sewn on them.  Additional tags are $10 each.  Standard shipping is $4.50.

Where/How to Buy

The baggage tags can be ordered from their website, http://www.tagsforbags.com/ .

Summary

This is a simple but very useful item that you should have on all your bags.  It may save you having a bag lost or stolen, and it will definitely make it easier for you when trying to spot your bag from the sea of similar bags on any luggage carousel.
